Letter from the CEO
TECH started 2017 with a great deal of enthusiasm and the excitement just keeps growing! Thanks to the dedication of TECH staff, board members, and our Hutchinson community, 2017 will be a monumental year for TECH.
On January 31st, we opened the doors to our newest location at the historic Wiley building in Downtown Hutchinson. The move represents a new chapter for the people with disabilities who we serve. TECH has been looking to make a move to Downtown Hutchinson for several years and has been very deliberate about finding a space that matches our needs. The new location is completely accessible and has dedicated gallery on the main floor where artwork created by TECH artists is on display and for sale to the public.
The community got their first look at the new TECH Art Gallery during the grand opening in late April. Attendees at the event were in awe as they entered the Gallery, many overwhelmed with emotion over the undeniable talent of our artists! Paintings range in size from 12” x 12” all the way up to 36” x 36” and feature subjects from floral arrangements to abstract art and everything in between. The TECH artists are incredibly proud of the work hanging on the walls of the gallery and have eagerly encouraged the community to come by and see their artwork. The TECH Art Gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday, 8AM – 5PM.
TECH is once again partnering with Manske and Associates, this time on a potential housing project. The housing project is being designed as loft style apartments for people with developmental disabilities and individuals over the age of 55. The project will be in beautiful downtown Hutchinson on the corner of Washington and Sherman Streets. We are waiting on the approval of Tax Credits for the project to make this dream a reality. Stay tuned for more on this exciting project.
The future of TECH is bright and full of opportunities for the people we serve! We invite you to join us on our adventures throughout the year as we strive to support the people we serve with services and supports that promote creativity, connection, self-worth and independence.
