Ulster Day at TECH
Youth with the Ulster Project have been spending several weeks right here in Hutchinson, KS. The objective of the Ulster Project coming to Hutchinson is for these teenagers to work on leadership/mentoring skills and to have a greater understanding of others with a peacemaking focus. 14 teens come from Ireland and are paired up with 14 teens from Hutchinson for the duration of their month-long visit in Hutchinson. 5 counselors accompany them at all of their activities.
July 5 was Ulster Day at TECH. The group visited TECH’s day services from 8:30 AM-3:00 PM. The group enjoyed a carnival in the morning, complete with water balloons and water gun fights at our Avenue B location. The youth had a chance to get to know several of the people we serve who work at this location. From there, the Ulster's went to TECH's Art Studio, taking a painting class alongside TECH artists and had a completed painting of their own to remember the trip with. FInally, the evening concluded with the much anticipated Ulster Dance with TECH at the Anchor Inn. This has been a tradition here at TECH for many years!
We had a great time with the Ulster Group and will miss them dearly!
