Ulster Teens Spend the day at TECH
The Ulster Project is a highly anticipated event here in Hutchinson every year. The staff and clients alike are typically planning for the Ulster day at TECH months in advance, collecting items for the carnival, working on new water game contraptions and deciding what type of art project to have them become involved in. This year was another unforgettable day for the people we serve and the Ulster teens.
The day started at TECH's Avenue B location where the teens were introduced to TECH, learned a little bit about our mission and then had the opportunity to participate in outdoor water games and a carnival. The smiles on everyone's faces were infectious. You couldn't help but laugh as teams worked together to drench each other! Some people opted to stay dry and participated in the carnival games, working hard to win various prizes.
After lunch and some time to dry out, the group headed over to the TECH Art Gallery where they toured the space, learned about the TECH Art Program and spent time with Faces of Faith, a mime troupe comprised of people served by TECH. Faces of Faith spent the afternoon teaching the Ulster teens a routine that they later performed with Faces of Faith.
The fun-filled day was wrapped up with the highlight of the year for many of the people we serve....the Ulster Dance at Anchor Inn. There was a full house (over 100 teens and TECH clients/families) that hit the dance floor and let loose!
Thank you to the Ulster Project for spending a day with us here at TECH! We hope you enjoyed your time with us as much as we did with you!!
