As I take time this New Year to reflect on all of the wonderful things TECH and the people we serve have accomplished in 2018, I cannot help but smile and feel a sense of pride for the incredible group of people I am surrounded by every single day.
Our staff continue to inspire me daily by the way they make caring for the people we serve a labor of love and dedication. Our Board of Directors inspire me as I watch them month after month selflessly give of their time and talent to help secure the future of our organization, assuring our success and stability for years to come. And to say I’m inspired by the people we serve is an understatement. The tenacity that all of the people we serve exhibit, should be inspiring to all of us, the dream to accept nothing less than a full life, should be a reminder to all of us of what life has to offer everyone. Because of all of these people, TECH has had one of our most memorable years yet. Here are some of my favorite highlights from 2018:
The Link of Hutchinson
We went into 2018 with great momentum – just reeling from the opening of the TECH Art Gallery and Administrative Offices in 2017 and swiftly shifted our focus to an opportunity that our Board of Directors couldn’t say no to – The Link of Hutchinson. The affordable housing project has been another opportunity for us to partner with Manske & Associates, LLC. The 29 unit complex will be complete this month and tenants will begin moving in the first of February. To read more about The Link, be sure to look inside.
TECH Legacy Wall Unveiled
The TECH Foundation unveiled its new Legacy Wall in March, honoring donors that have achieved $5,000 or more in lifetime giving to the TECH Foundation. We were thrilled to honor those who see the value of TECH’s mission and have committed to securing TECH’s future and the future of those we serve. The community’s investment in the TECH Foundation will allow TECH the ability to provide the highest quality of supports the people we serve deserve, and our community expects. I look forward to the growth of our Legacy Society and the TECH Foundation in 2019.
The Rainbow Lion
It is hard to miss the vibrant new piece of artwork that has found a home on the front corner of Main Street Event in Downtown Hutchinson. Bob and Ann Bush, owners of City Beverage, approached TECH in early 2018 about their vision for a community art project and requested to commission a TECH Artist to paint the piece. Jerimiah Tolbert has been a part of the TECH Art Program for a year and was thrilled to have his piece selected for this project. While he is quite shy, his beaming smile shows just how proud he is to be a part of this project. Thank you to Bob and Ann for providing this opportunity for Jerimiah, TECH and our community.
TECH Gala Sees Record Year
Thanks to many community partners, we were able to hold several successful fundraising events that were not only memorable and fun, but also connected event goers to our mission and helped raise needed funds to provide services to those we serve. The 2018 TECH Gala: A Vintage Carnival was not only a fun and eventful evening, but it also was a record-breaking night for TECH, raising over $155,000 for the people we serve. The Gala was held at Main Street Event on Saturday, November 17th and it featured both live and silent auctions, food stations where guests indulged in delicious treats from local restaurants and caterers. Several other night of event fundraisers also kept the crowd entertained. Bob and Ann Bush, owners of City Beverage, spoke to guests about the importance of investing in our community and helped kick off a mission drive to support the TECH Foundation.
With all that was accomplished in 2018, it is hard to believe our goals for 2019 are even bigger! Daunting? Yes! But the TECH Team is energized and excited to see what we can do in 2019. We will continue to focus on providing the highest quality of services the people we serve deserve, and you, our community partners expect. I look forward to reporting out in January 2020, until then…..Happy New Year!
