Hutchinson, KS – August, 7, 2019
TECH (Training and Evaluation Center of Hutchinson) has been selected to receive the 2019 Kansas Ad Astra Award for Excellence in Housing by the Kansas Housing Conference. The awards ceremony will take place during the Kansas Housing Conference on Tuesday, September 17th at the Hyatt Regency Ballroom in Wichita.
The Link, Hutchinson’s newest affordable housing alternative, is comprised of twelve units for residents 55 and older and seventeen units set aside for residents with developmental disabilities. The $3.9 million construction project, funded with tax credits designed by Shelden Architecture and overseen by Weins & Company construction, is a contemporary style, unlike anything Hutchinson has seen before. The L-shape building features one and two bedroom apartments, a community room for residents, washer/dryer and full kitchen packages, as well as a rooftop green space. The Link which was fully leased prior to completion offers residents close access to transportation, the senior center, TECH Art Studio and Gallery, the Fox Theater, and so many shopping and dining experiences. Through TECH’s relationship with Manske & Associates, this affordable housing complex was developed to provide opportunities for people of all abilities to continue to make downtown Hutchinson a great place to live, work, and play.
