Get to Know Colleen
What do you love about working at TECH?
Making a difference, helping clients with improving their quality life.
What brought you to TECH?
My daughter-in-law had just got on with TECH and said Mom you need to apply, she knew I’ve been working in this field before and was looking for another job.
What TECH pillar means the most to you, and why?
Independence, self worth, connection, creativity they are all equal. Everyone needs Independence to live their life as they want to to the best of their ability, people need self-worth to be the best they are. Connection to build friends, you belong do something that you can be proud of and you know creativity to express thoughts, ideas whether verbally or through art.
What is most rewarding about the specific position and job you have?
Making a difference, my ladies and the gentleman that live in the home I work in, I know that they depend on me when they come to me to just talk about how they’re feeling, have a problem or they’re just joking and teasing.
Do you have a special memory about working at TECH?
I have a lot of memories. Sunday card games of Garbage, and van rides around the community. During Christmas we decorated inside and outside of the house and the clients were just so excited and had so much fun, which brought lots of joy and laughter, and on Super Bowl Sunday several of the clients watched the game and we had chips, dips and all the fun snacks. We had a great time!
Do you have a favorite quote or motto that you live by?
My favorite quote is by Herm Albright “A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.”
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Taking care of my yard and my plants, spending time with my family, playing with my dog, reading and sleeping.
