Love, Inclusion, and Connection at TECH’s Adult Life Skills Program

March 11, 2025

For over 50 years, TECH has been dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by helping them build confidence, gain independence, and connect with their community. But what truly makes TECH special is the people—those who show up every day to support, encourage, and create meaningful relationships with the individuals they serve.

In this episode of The Quest for New Inspiration, I had the privilege of sitting down with Lauren, a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at TECH’s Adult Life Skills (ALS) program, and Elijah, a former DSP who continues to stay involved as a volunteer. They share their passion for TECH, the deep personal connections they’ve built, and the impact that inclusion and accessibility have on the individuals TECH serves.

Inside TECH’s Adult Life Skills Program

Lauren and Elijahh take us inside what it’s like working with the individuals at ALS, where every day is different. Clients set their own goals—whether it’s learning a new skill, gaining confidence in the community, or simply trying something new—and the staff at TECH are there to help them every step of the way.

Through personal stories, they highlight the joy, challenges, and deep relationships that make TECH a place of love and belonging.
