TECH Celebrates Consumer Recognition

March 19, 2025

On Saturday, March 15th, TECH hosted our annual Consumer Recognition Night, a special evening dedicated to honoring the incredible individuals we serve! This event allows us to reflect on the past year, celebrate milestones, and recognize outstanding achievements.

This year, we proudly recognized over 45 individuals for their dedication to TECH and their personal growth in the areas of Independence, Creativity, Self-Worth, and Connection—the core Pillars that guide our mission.

A heartfelt thank you to Jason Younger for graciously serving as our emcee for an incredible 26th year!

Stanly B is our 2025 Maurice F. Cummings Lifetime Achievement Honoree

Independence: Stan’s journey with TECH began in 1984 when he started receiving residential and day services and engaged in meaningful work. From 1998 to 2002, Stan contributed to Friendship Meals, assisting with meal deliveries and working in the cafeteria. In the spring of 2002, he took on a part-time role at K-Mart, tending to and watering the plants. Additionally, Stan dedicated many years to the TECH woodshop and Affirmative Enterprise program, demonstrating exceptional skills in welding. His exemplary work ethic and positive demeanor left a lasting impression. In 2012, as he approached retirement, Stan joined the ALS program to focus on daily living skills and embrace new leisure activities.

Creativity: Stan’s creative journey began in 2015 when he embraced the TECH art program, stepping into the world of painting for the first time. Though initially uncertain, Stan’s dedication and hard work led him to blossom into a talented artist. Over the years, he has created numerous captivating pieces, with his artwork becoming highly sought after for its vibrant colors and meticulous detail. Stan’s creativity was recognized when his painting “Armstrong Buggy” received acclaim, and one of his pieces was honored with an award at the 2021 Interhab conference. His artistic journey is a testament to his willingness to embrace new challenges and his remarkable ability to inspire through creativity.

Connection: Stan’s ability to forge meaningful connections has been a cornerstone of his journey. Through his involvement in the art community, church, various community events, and work, he has formed deep and lasting relationships. Stan actively participated in Hutchinson Recreation activities, such as volleyball and bowling, and took joy in attending local sporting events, always connecting with those he encountered.

Self-worth: Stan’s sense of self-worth has been cultivated through his dedication to his work, the recognition of his art, and the cherished friendships he has built over the years. His strong familial bonds with his siblings and extended family have also been a source of pride and support.

Stan embodies the values of independence, creativity, connection, and self-worth.
