About the Position

Under the immediate supervision of the Director of Maintenance, the Maintenance Worker performs semi-skilled and skilled work in general upkeep of TECH’s owned, leased, or rented properties.  Duties include, but are not limited to, maintenance work, janitorial/custodial responsibilities, regulatory inspections, and training of staff and clients.   The position requires flexibility of scheduling and the ability to respond to after hour calls.  Safety is always a priority.  This position is a non-exempt/hourly position with a starting salary dependent upon qualifications.



  • Performing repairs/ troubleshoot general maintenance work of facilities, buildings, grounds, and equipment at various sites, which could include electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, minor HVAC, appliances and machinery tasks
  • Repairing and treating structures such as showers, floors, sinks, walls, carpets, and roofs.
  • Moving assistance in transportation of furniture, equipment, or other assigned items.
  • Assisting, as requested, with special events.
  • Ability to activate and deactivate building alarms and responding to such alarms during and outside of regular work hours.
  • Installing necessary appliances and equipment as needed.
  • Maintaining of grounds as needed, including yard upkeep, trash collection and general repairs
  • Performing necessary cleaning activities, such as dusting, mopping, trash removal, vacuuming, etc.
  • Completing regular maintenance tasks like replacing light bulbs.
  • Inspecting and troubleshooting various systems, machinery, tools and etc.
  • Testing and maintaining logs of such tests for safety systems per TECH request and Federal/State regulations.
  • Training of staff, guests, and/or clients on various topics within the scope of knowledge base and expertise.
  • Reporting of items that are outside of the general comfort and abilities of staff so that skilled professionals can address the issue.
  • Collaborating with co-workers, guests, vendors, clients, and members of the general public in a professional manner.



Education: High school diploma/GED or equivalent required.

Experience: Prefer a candidate who has a work history that demonstrates the application of maintenance functions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Preferred basic knowledge of electricity, electronics, appliances, machinery, HVAC,

painting, and housekeeping.  Preferred the ability to operate a forklift and working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.

Licenses:  Must have a valid and current Kansas Driver’s License

Physical Demands: Medium Work. occasionally must lift and/or move 20-50 pounds.

Work Environment: Manual labor is required, and adverse weather conditions, fumes, and noise could be a factor in this position.  Working around other employees, clients, tenants, and the public is assumed during all worked hours.


Hourly Wage: Dependent upon qualifications, work history, and skill set.  Starting at $17/hour.
