October Employee of the Month – Kathy Meyer
Kathy Meyer, Administrative Assistant, has been with TECH for 2 years and is an integral part of our TECH team! We asked her to tell us a little bit about her position with TECH and a few things about herself that we may not know!
What is your title? Administrative Assistant
How long have you been with TECH? 2 years
How did you get started with TECH? Donna Davis’ dad had been my boss for several years at my previous employment. After learning that I had left that job, she and I talked and she convinced me to submit my resume to TECH.
What is your favorite thing about working for this company? I love to serve and it’s so rewarding to come to work every day knowing that you’re part of an organization that’s committed to helping individuals with disabilities live full and productive lives and to see that in action.
What do you love most about your job? There are several things! The clients’ are so genuine and their smiles are contagious…I love that! I love working with co-workers that are focused and driven yet, very kind and patient. And last, but not least, I love and appreciate my boss!
What is the TECH pillar that resonates with you most and why? Self-worth. Everyone needs to know that they deserve the best and not to settle for less.
What do you like to do in your spare time? I love to read and I love to spend time with my four grandkids and attend all their activities.
Are there any TV shows or movies that you just love? I don’t spend a lot of time watching TV or movies, however, my favorite movie of all time is Steel Magnolia’s.
What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know? I love watermelon but just the smell of cantaloupe makes me sick….literally!!
Do you have a favorite quote? Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Prov. 3:5
Do you have a favorite TECH memory? My dad had passed away New Year’s Eve of this last year. On my first day back to work after the holiday, with the sting of death still fresh in my heart, Laurie Jarrett came smiling and bearing a gift of one of her paintings….just because. She had no idea about my dad and her kindness was like a healing ointment. I will never forget this!
Kathy, on behalf of all of us at TECH, thank you for all that you do for the clients and your co-workers! You are awesome!
