Hutchinson, KS – October 1, 2018 – Kevin Hess was hired as the TECH’s new Chief Financial Officer and began his position on Monday, October 1st with the agency. Hess will oversee the business office at TECH, accounts payable and receivable, building/maintenance and transportation department.

Kevin began his career in 1998, working in the audit and tax department for Pierce, Faris & Co. He joined the Kroger Company in 2003 as the accounting manager for Kroger Accounting Services in Hutchinson where he managed the fixed assets, accounts receivable, accounts payable and general accounting groups. In 2005, he was promoted to the Director of the Dillon Real Estate, managing capital spending, measured return on investments, assisted in the preparation of annual business plans and prepared quarterly financial statements for the Kroger Convenience Stores group, Turkey Hill Dairy and Supermarket Petroleum Gas. In 2006, Hess was promoted to Corporate controller for the Kroger Convenience Stores group, Turkey Hill Dairy and Supermarket Petroleum Gas and in 2011, was promoted again, this time to Vice President of Operations for Tom Thumb Food Stores in Crestview, Florida. In 2013, Hess was promoted to Senior Vice President of Kwik Shop and in June 2013, was promoted to President of Kwik Shop. Most recently, he was assigned leadership over Loaf N Jug and Quik Stop Markets.

Kevin graduated from Kansas State University with degrees in Accounting and Management. He lives in Hutchinson with his wife, Jodie, and their two boys, Austin and Aaron. When asked about what excited him the most about coming on board at TECH, he said, “I am excited to be a part of the talented, experienced and enthusiastic TECH team. TECH plays a huge role in helping make the Hutchinson area a better place to live. It continues to amaze me, the number of lives that this organization touches.”

Hess will work alongside long-time CFO, Jim Preston, through the end of March. Preston retires from TECH after 27 years of service to the agency.
