TECH Employee Spotlight – Meet Shontelle Humphries

Meet Shontelle Humphries! Shontelle is a Direct Support Professional in our Day Service Programs here at TECH and has been with us for 3 years!
Get to Know Shontelle
What do you love about working at TECH?
I love being able to be with the clients and not only teaching them but them teaching me as well!
What brought you to TECH?
I had worked for TECH once before and really enjoyed it. When people asked what my dream job was I told them I would love to be a part of TECH once again! I enjoyed the time with the clients and had learned a lot about life from them!
What TECH pillar means the most to you, and why?
Connection means a lot to me, for the simple reasoning, without connection you have nobody. You make connections everyday with each encounter, rather it is the clients we work with, the fellow employees you work with, the same people working at your favorite gas station, or the person you see almost every time you order your favorite take out. But it all depends on YOU, rather those connections are good or bad. I admire the connections I have built with not only the clients and coworkers, but also the connections I have made with the clients family!
What is most rewarding about the specific position and job you have?
My reward that I look forward to every day is being here with the clients and being able to laugh and spend time with them day to day! Their smiles and laughter is so contagious and the best you can get!
Do you have a special memory about working at TECH?
My most special memory is all the love, smiles, and laughter I get with my special buddy. He is a one on one client and holds a big part of my heart! I would feel so incomplete without him now and he adores my kids, as my kids absolutely love him and look forward to seeing him again. They always ask when they can see him and my youngest child has said “When I grow up I want work where my mom works and be able to take care of “said client”, because he is special to us!”
Do you have a favorite quote or motto that you live by?
“Say what you mean, and mean what you say!” “Don’t hand out promises you can’t keep”
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
My free time is mostly spent with my kids, we enjoy our family time no matter what it is we do. We love to watch movies on our projector outside in the front yard and let neighbor kids or friends come over to enjoy it with us. When I am without my kids I love to take the dog out for car rides and run around in open areas or playing videos games with my partner.
